Curly Coat

The first Rex Breed was officially discovered in Bodim, Cornwall, England in the 1950′s. Curly-coated cats are called a Rex Cat breed. They are a domestic cat breed with a dense soft coat with deep waves or crimps. As they get older, their coat appears to be permed. The curly hair is caused by a spontaneously occuring mutant gene, which is usually recessive. These types of cats are known to have very playful and loving personalities and make wonderful family pets.
Here is a list of a few Rex Cat breeds that come to mind:
Selkirk Rex Cat (which is pictured above)
Missouri Rex Cat
Dutch Rex Cat
Devon Rex Cat
Oregon Rex Cat
Cornish Rex Cat
Italian Rex Cat
and the list goes on.
